In April we took 11 graduates under the government KICKSTART team. The Kickstart Scheme provides
funding to create new jobs for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term
unemployment. This was a challenging experience for both the kick-starters and the firm as for the first 4
months we were still in lockdown and we were all working remotely. Despite this, Luiza Abazi and Jennifer
Simmons with the help of other members of the firm managed to give them the best experience possible of
working in a law firm and set them interesting tasks. They were also given an opportunity to work in the office
once lockdown was lifted. We are pleased that following this experience they all secured job offers including a
training contract, court clerk and other positions in the law. We wish all our kick-starters good luck in the
future and hope that they will stay in contact with us.
This is an example of the feedback we received.
“Thank you for everything during this programme, I will be eternally grateful for providing me with
experience in a law firm I did not have previously and was struggling to find. I wish you and the firm
the best in your future endeavours.”
Sadly we had to say au revoir to Delwar Hussain who left our firm in November 2021 to join a Legal
500 firm. He was a popular member of the team. He kindly wrote saying “ I would not have been in
this great position if it wasn’t for Canfields.. I am genuinely sad that I am leaving Harvey. He’s been
great with me and even though he may not admit it I’ve learnt a lot from him”
Del we wish you lots of luck for the future
